Purpose

The purpose of the Nerang Estuary Ecosystem Health Study is to accurately assess the health of the estuary and provide Gold Coast City Council with a detailed management strategy. The study has involved an extensive assessment of the the estuary, including fish, zooplankton, phytoplankton and benthic macro-invertebrate sampling, as well as riparian vegetation and foreshore/bank condition assessments.
