Little McCready’s Creek, Urban Systems Repair Project
Design & Construct | Wetland Design | WSUD | Ecological Monitoring & Reporting
Overview
AWC was engaged to ‘naturalise’ a waterway within a suburb of Mackay. The creek had been turned into a trapezoidal drain when the surrounding development was created, resulting in unnatural flow regimes and erosion.
Through flood modelling, increased sinuosity was achieved by cutting back banks and creating lateral wetlands that engage with high rain events. Pools were also introduced to enable fish passage and habitat features.
