Wetland Concept Design | Detailed Design
Purpose
This project sought to rehabilitate the site of the disused maturation ponds at the Parkes sewage treatment plant (STP). Concept and detailed designs were prepared to improve environmental and habitat values, whilst making use of existing hydraulic infrastructure.
The design incorporated a range of habitat features support a diverse ecosystem. Habitat features integrated into the design included shoreline variability, horseshoe shaped bays, vertical banks, gently sloping banks, variable bathymetry and deep-water zones, hollow logs and woody debris, perches, a range of vegetation communities and vegetation-free mudflat areas.
